Powermat and Kodak Gallery Event

By Rosa

I was recently at an event for Powermat and Kodak Gallery at the Wired Store in New York City to get organized.  (Check out Eddy’s Wired Store post for more details about where it is etc.)

Diane Albright , a professional organizer, gave great tips on getting organized at home and in life.  I was surprised to hear that an average person wastes 55 minutes a day because they can’t find things they have.  This happens to me all the time.  It actually happened to me right before writing this post.  That tells you how organized I am.  Diane recommends everyone make themselves replaceable.  Meaning that if you were out of work one day or if you had to leave your house; would the others be able to function without you?

First you have to begin with managing your time.

  • Where are you wasting time?
  • Find time to organize.

Second manage paper by getting your papers under control.  Then you have to maintain the system.

Kodak Gallery

It’s the time of year when everyone gets their Holiday cards done and Kodak has new designs and ideas for any types of cards.  You can do a photo card using various photos or just one.  In the spirit of getting organized, Kodak also has plenty of tools to help you manage your photos online.  Instead of having lots of CD around your house, you can store your digital photos online. When you want to use them, you can pick out which one you want to use.

Go to www.Kodak.com and see their new designs.

Powermat

Powermat was established in 2007, led by partners Ron Ferber and Ran Poliakine with the headquarters in Commerce Township, Michigan.  It’s an innovative device that makes your life easier and more organized.  It allows you to charge several devices at once without using wirers.  Someone who travels, tweens, moms, business people, college students, and anyone who owns electronics will find the powermat really helpful.

Like Eddy, I absolutely love this product.  It makes things so easy.  I get so tired of charging my phone in one area, then charging my iPod in another place etc.  Not only does it look ugly in my room but it also uses more outlets.  This way, I only have to use one outlet and I get to charge my camara, cellphone, Ipod, and DS Lite.  Plus it’s not an ugly product.  Let’s be honest, if it was bulky and just plain ugly, I probably wouldn’t put it in my room.

There are two versions of the Powermat .  There is a portable version that actually folds up to 10cm x 10cm x 3.5 cm.  It’s really easy to transport, plus the travel case is included.  All you have to do is fold up the mat, put it in the case and off you go.  Once you get to your destination, unfold the mat, plug it in and start charging.  There is also the version for the home and office.  It works just like the portable version put it doesn’t fold up.  All you have to do is drop your electronic on the mat and it starts charging.  You can put the Powermat in your office, living room, kitchen, bedroom, basically anywhere you want.

There are various receivers for your devices.  All of the receivers are small and you can still put a cover over your phones.  Below are the different types of receivers that are available.  My phone is Samsung Rouge.  There is no specific receiver made for it yet but I can use the universal receiver for Samsung and I am all set.

  • Apple Case Receivers – iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 2nd Generation, iPhone 3GS
  • Blackberry Battery Door Receivers – Blackberry Cure 8300, 8900 series, Blackberry Bold, Blackberry Pearl 8110, Blackberry Tour
  • iPod Dock Receiver – available for all docking iPods and iPhones
  • Nintendo DS Back Panel Receivers – Nintendo DSi and DS Lite
  • Universal Powercube Receiver – There are 8 standard tips that come with each mat that can be used on various products.  There are tips for an apple, DSi, DS Lite, LG, Micro USB, Sony PSP, Samsung

The Powermat technically has an option to not only charge three things at one time but four.  In the back of the device is an USB connection.  In case you need one more thing to be charge for example your camera and you are using all three of the places or the micro tip; just plug in the cord to your camera and the device.

This is such an easy product to use and a great Christmas gift.  Anyone who has a cellphone can use it.  College students would love it.  I wish I had one when I was living in the dorms.  I had such a small area to charge all the things.  My roommate and I had to share outlets and we would each have our extension cords.  If I had the Powermat , I could have charged my cellphone, camera, and iPod all at once without have to change to another outlet.

You can purchase the Powermat at Best Buy, Target, Amazon.com, and the Wired Store .  The Wired Store is open until Dec. 27.
