On December 1st, ABC aired Prep & Landing, the first original holiday special produced by Walt Disney. I was looking forward to watching it as I love Disney, but unfortunately did not get a chance to see it… such is the craziness of life. Hopefully Baby Boy and I will catch the rerun as the holiday’s get closer. On the brighter side, I did get to play the new IPhone APP by the same name.
Quick Summary: We join the Kringle Academy as Lanny the Elf to become a member of the Elite unit of elves that help Santa on Christmas Eve. Training is made up of two menu options: 1) Kringle Academy with three mini games, Deployment, Sparkle Ball Practice, Ski Jump and 2) P&L equipment with some extras.
In the three games you are parachuting safely from Santa’s sleigh, keeping creatures from stirring and jumping from rooftop to rooftop to catch special ornaments.
My favorite part of the game was the Sparkle Ball Practice which has you throwing balls at children and puppies to put them to sleep or keep them from stirring. I am not a huge video gamer but the game was fun and easy to figure out.
My favorite extra feature was the Naughty or Nice scanner which tells you if you family members are on Santa’s naughty or nice list, I tried them out on everyone and am happy to report that the family is on the nice list…except for Eddy.
A few disappointments were the sound effects. The Christmas carols in the background were just not enough. Also, Eddy wished there was some kind of points system so he would definitely know how much he beat me at the games but I was happy with colored medals.
All in all, it was cute application that gets you in the holiday spirit. Since it is an IPHONE APP it only costs $.99 and requires WIFI or Internet. Go to itunes.com/waltdisney to see how good of an elf you are.
