Thomas First Birthday Party! Part One

By Divina

Eddy and I have survived Thomas’ first birthday party.

After hours of planning and sleepless nights I am happy to report the party was a complete success. When hosting a 100 plus person birthday party trust me there are lots of hours of planning and not sleeping.  (If you need help planning a birthday party check out my birthday party planning series on www.koochoo.com (yes, I write for another website)).

Much of that success was in part because of my amazing family, wonderful friends, Katie Settel and http://www.1stbirthdayparty.com/.

Thomas’ actual birthday is June 11th but we were having the birthday party at Short Beach Stratford CT because of the quantity of people.  I was not going to have that many people at my house! Short Beach was booked for the entire month of June but available for Fourth of July.  Go figure!

My guardian angels must have been looking out for me because the of month June was a wash out in CT, but July 4th was the perfect beach day.  Short Beach had a covered pavilion that we rented so if it rained my guests were covered but if there was bad weather I did not have any other  entertainment to fall back on.  All the activities we planned were based around the beach, playground and sports areas that Short Beach provided.  If it rained I would have had 20 very bored pre-teen and teenager guests.

Thomas will only turn one once so we got some “Onederful” themed plates, napkins, balloons and other decorations from the first birthday party supplies experts at http://www.1stbirthdayparty.com/.  Getting the decorations online was a huge relief as Eddy and I didn’t have to spend time driving out to a store and searching for the right decorations.  The team at 1stbirthdayparty and especially the owner Edward were very helpful and definitely had the experience needed to help us pick out the right quantities.  When I think back to everything we had to do, I could seriously imagine a scenario where Eddy and I either buy too much or too little leaving the party in quite a pickle.

We got the whole package with the “Onederful” theme, so we had plates, napkins and even signs to put up so guest knew where the party was.  Let me say that we were definitely pleased with all the products, everything was of high quality especially the plates and napkins which were heavily abused from all the great goodies everyone was eating.

All of their items were super cute and a big hit with our guests but Eddy’s and my favorite birthday item was their 1st birthday hats.

Here is a quick picture of Thomas in the hat with my mom. Aren’t they both the cutest!

I know I am biased.  They had other really cute designs (http://www.1stbirthdayparty.com/hats.html) but we loved this one because it looked like a cupcake/crown.

For your next party function check out http://www.1stbirthdayparty.com/ and show them some Dancinghotdogs.com love.  They were really easy to work with and had some truly cute items that will work perfectly for your next party.

Another person that made my life much easier and the party even more unforgettable was hiring Katie Settel to take pictures at the party.  Katie is a photojournalist that I met through my travels in Mommyland.  She has a more artistic view of taking pictures instead of your standard smile and click which Eddy and I just adore.  Katie took so many pictures that day and is editing them.  I will follow up this post with a Thomas B-day Part two with even more pictures.

So stay tuned for more B-day fun.
