Rachel Ray and Martha Stewart Shows

December 1st, 2008

By Divina

The month of November was super busy along with all the family stuff, bloggers nights etc.  I also got tickets to see Rachel Ray AND Martha Stewart show.

I know I know I was beyond excited to find out that I got tickets to both shows.

First, Rachel Ray show.

I really like Rachel Ray especially since her food network days but I don’t DVR her daytime show every day.  I much rather watch 30 minute meals etc.  But I was still really happy to go and see if she was exactly like she is portrayed on television.

I was not disappointed.  She was bubbly, fun and super friendly.  Rachel walked through the aisles and talked to everyone.  There was a man who turned 90 years old the day of the taping and Rachel Ray offered to pay for dinner for him and twelve of his friends at his favorite restaurant in upstate New York.  That was REALLY NICE.

Yes, she is rolling in money these days and this was just a small gift but she could have just cleaned out one of her studio closets and given him Rachel Ray pots and plans etc. Not dinner for thirteen people.

Rachel Ray tapes her shows weeks in advance of when they are actually aired on television.   So fellow contributor/my sister Rosa and two friends went to the show unsure of what to expect.  We did not know who was going to be the guest or what the giveaway was etc.  The element of the unknown made the excitement level really high.

Rachel Ray was also having a food drive for the needy so the entire audience was asked to bring a canned good.  Isn’t that really nice!  In the end, she only gave us Granola as the giveaway, it looks like we gave more to the show than she did to us.  Oh well.

The celebrity guest was Amanda Bynes who I really like and think is super cute.  The show airs tomarrow, Tues December 2, so watch it and see if you can find me.  I think I definitely got some TV time.

Martha Stewart Show:

I LOVE MARTHA!  She is the domestic goddess that I wish I could be and I think it’s so cool that she went to jail and becomes even more rich and famous from it.

Come on, you got to love that Jersey girl for her tenacity!

Martha Stewart tapes live daily.  So my mom, Rosa and I, got to go to the November 20th Turkey 101 show.  The audience was made up entirely of first time Thanksgiving hosts.  I have never made a turkey before so I was excited about the show even though I have already been on a “Martha” taping.

No matter what you say about Martha, yes she is a jail bird.  Yes, she can be very over the top, but she is an excellent teacher.  She broke everything down in a Thanksgiving dinner piece by piece.

So there were recipes for the Turkey, stuffing, vegetables, gravy etc.   The show was really educational for me and I am definitely going to be trying out some recipes.

Martha is very different from Rachel.  Martha took a lot of questions but in between commercials she was prepping everything.  She is very hands on and since this was a live show there was no editing so she did not talk to everyone like Rachel did.

Sadly, I got no TV time but my mom and Rosa got their 15 minutes of fame.  I was a little disappointed with the giveaway which was only a meat thermometer, but what can you do?  I still LOVE Martha.

If you live in the area or are visiting NYC check out these websites for FREE tickets to Rachel or Martha.

There are tons of shows that tape in NYC. like what you ask?  The View, Conan O’Brien, Regis and Kelly, Daily Show, Colbert Report, David Letterman etc.

Eddy and I have actually seen Conan and David Letterman.  So if you check their websites and there are no available tickets now keep checking!  The tickets are free and you never know who you will get to see or get as a giveaway.
