Vacation season is starting and the Dancing Hotdogs is no exception. We have been toying with different ways to keep the boys entertained during the flights, from cards to video games to toys all them have their positives and negatives. The one thing that seems to keep them some what preoccupied is watching their favorite Netflix shows and movies downloaded on a tablet. This saves us in a couple of ways:
- We are not beholden to the airline in terms of what content is available. Bringing your own entertainment frees you up to select what every you want.
- You are guaranteed that your tablet screen will work. I have had some flights where the entertainment system did work and the crew was unable to do anything to fix it. In these cases you are stuck just twiddling your thumbs.
- Full control of the content, you are free to stop and continue whenever you want, so potty breaks do not cause them to miss the show in addition to having full parental control of what is being shown on the screen.
Netflix just released a video on some of the hardships for parents while traveling with their kids. The thing that I take away from this video is that sometimes it is not the journey but the destination. Traveling to somewhere can be stressful and crazy, so when you get to the destination enjoy it for all it is worth because you are going to have to travel back soon enough!
