On January 28th , Eddy and I were invited to the 16th annual Skate with the Greats event that benefits the Ronald McDonald House of New York. The partnership of Ronald McDonald House New York , with the Garden of Dreams Foundation and the New York Rangers has helped to raise more than $6 million for Ronald McDonald House New York.
The Ronald McDonald House New York facility offers children with cancer and their family shelter and support while they undergo active treatment. Since its founding, more than 25,000 children have stayed at Ronald McDonald House New York.
RBC Capital Markets sponsored event was held at the Rockefeller Center Rink and Restaurant and gave Ronald McDonald House New York families, volunteers and executives a chance to skate with Brian Leetch, Rod Gilbert, Adam Graves and other former Rangers all in the spirit of charity. It is wonderful that these gifted athletes are also giving back to the public and the fans that have supported them for so many years.
It was truly a great night.
Picture of skaters having fun.
Former Rangers showing their fans some love.
There was ice skating, delicious food and silent auction for sports memorabilia and Ranger experiences like riding the Rangers Zamboni during a game! (Nope Eddy and I did not win that.)
Eddy and I had a ball but what made the night truly special was seeing the patients and families like Sandra from the Ronald McDonald House of New York there participating in all the fun.
With the help of over 850 attendees, Skate with the Greats event, raised over $489,000 for Ronald McDonald House New York and $490.00 Hope for Haiti. When we were there you could really feel the energy from the attendees. The place was packed with families and employees from RBC Capital Markets, it was great to see such support for these causes.
Events like these make me happy.
A big thank you for the invite and an exceptionally memorable evening in New York City.
New York Rangers program ambassadors Brian Leetch and Rod Gilbert make Sandra, age 17, an honorary Ranger during the 16th annual Skate with the Greats event at Rockefeller Center. The event, generously sponsored by the Rangers through a partnership with the Garden of Dreams Foundation and by RBC Capital Markets, benefits Ronald McDonald House New York, a facility that offers pediatric cancer patients and their families a place to stay during treatment.
