Early last week in California, D and I were honored to be invited for an exclusive showing of Nutrilite’s facility in Buena Park and a presentation on their product line. Included during the day was a personal health examination with in depth results.
Before, I get too far ahead of myself, let me explain a little about Nutrilite as I was unaware of the brand at first.
Nutrilite is a brand of vitamins and dietary supplements created in 1934 and sold and owned by Amway Global. Nutrilite owns and operates all its main farms and holds extremely strict guidelines for all outside suppliers that they use.
Nutrilite’s main product is their Double X Vitamin/Mineral/Phytonutrient. Double X basically combines everything that is healthy for you into one convenient pill, even going as far as “protecting your DNA”. Considering my slight suspicion that my DNA may save the world, I am planning on ordering a lifetime supply very soon.
All kidding aside, during the Nutrilite presentation I definitely got the sense that they really cared about helping people and they definitely believed in their product. It is that passion that really impressed me.
The product line that I was really excited about learning about was the sports nutrition line. As I have been getting older, I have been increasingly more wary about staying in shape. I want to be able to play sports with my son and do all the activities that my father used to do with me when I was younger. As such, I have been concentrating on increasing my level of health by working on my diet as well as trying to exercise more consistently.
Another aspect of this is taking dietary supplements. Lately I have been drinking meal replacement shakes for lunch, protein shakes after work outs and multivitamins each day. The further I invest in learning about supplements the more I feel like I need a Doctorate in Chemistry to figure out what is best for my body.
So it was with great relief that I was able to speak with many of the Nutrilite scientists and doctors about what kind of things I put in my body. On top of all of this, Nutrilite performed a health and fitness assessment on the invitees in order to help us understand further about what our body needs and what Nutrilite can do for us. As of the writing of this post I have yet to receive the final assessment…I am hoping for the news to not be too bad.
Before I left I was able to try out some of their products as well as bring some home with me. Here are my thoughts on them so far:
Nutrilite Energy Bar (Chocolate Nut & Vanilla Pretzel): Great tasting energy bars are extremely hard to find, especially those that are actually good for you. I have to admit I was a bit skeptical before I tried Nutrilite’s bar, but after one bite of the Chocolate Nut I was convinced. I honestly couldn’t not tell that it was an energy bar from the taste, it tasted like a very good candy bar, almost too good. I probably could have eaten more than one if given the chance. (Included in the Cali Trip giveaway make a comment on the Comic Con post. August 1, we pick two winners.)
Nutrilite Sports Drink (Strawberry): On the Nutrilite site there are other flavor such as fruit punch etc. The biggest thing that dawned on me was the amount of flavor that the drink had, you almost have to look twice at the bottle to make sure what you are drinking is clear instead of red like other sports drinks. Oh yeah, the drink has absolutely no calories.
Nutrilite Protein Shake (Chocolate Fudge): this one was the one I was waiting for. I am big into drinking protein shakes, but have been very particular about flavor. Because of this I usually drink Muscle Milk, which tastes great but has a good amount of fat. Let me say this, drinking this shake was no problem for me, in fact I enjoyed it just as much as Muscle Milk add in that it has less calories and fat than Muscle Milk and I have been sold.
I also received some glucosamine and rhodiola pills. I still haven’t tried this product but I am looking for to doing it.
All in all, I thought it was a great visit. From what I have seen and learned Nutrilite has made a customer out me. Check out www.nutrilitehealth.com for more information on their products and mission as well as a mini heath test.
Coming up next is a post on meeting Marta, Woman’s Soccer’s top player and Nutrilite spokesperson as well as my attendance of the AC Milan/LA Galaxy game and meet and greet with the AC Milan players with some superstars in digitel media like Tyler Duffy, MoreThanMary, GirlGetStrong, Kelly The Kitchen Kop, Ysolt Usigan, Aly Walansky, AskMen.com, When Tara Met Blog and Ben Hooper. See picture below of the good looking group outside the facilities.
